Mortal Online Guide

The Class system for this game is indeed troubling though, as it is based on the older style job system, in the sense that you are not one class, you are all classes, if you so choose.

It is true that you can only have one active class, however the classes merely enable you to gain bonuses fitting of that class, and learn abilities and such that aren’t forbidden from the style of Mortal Online combat related to that class selection.  In addition, it appears if you are to lose what would be considered as the requirements to become that class at any time, you also lose the bonuses that come along with it; This to me goes against the customization of your character. There are many other aspects to this game that I would deem worth mentioning, however none as dramatic as the ones listed above.

All in all, Mortal Online looks to be very worth checking out, in fact I believe it will be a quick starter for all of those bored of the same old raids, sick of Dynamis every third night, or fed up with the glitched world of Atreia.  However, it is in my opinion going to be a quick starter, but a quick bomb too.  This game is too diverse for players to accept in one sitting.  Try it, I know I will, but don’t expect it to be your Promised Land.

In real life a pet can be a friend, a protector, and a constant companion and this is no different in the immersive world found in Mortal Online. With the proper skill you can tame a wild creature, making it your loyal pet. It can follow you around, amuse your companions, and most importantly, aid you in battle. Once you have learned the Creature Control skill you are ready to try your hand at taming a stalwart companion.

First, find a suitable creature to tame. As with any new endeavor, it is best to start small and work your way up. Target a creature and, once you are in taming distance, type “tame.” If you have enough skill you have a good chance of taming the critter. Bending a wild creature to your will doesn’t come quickly or easily for the relatively unskilled. It takes time and effort so be prepared to spend some time trying to tame your target. As your skill grows, taming a pet takes less and less time and you are able to tame larger and more difficult creatures. As with many skills, practice definitely helps.

Taming a creature is only the initial step in owning a Mortal Online pet. Just because you tamed it doesn’t mean this wild animal is suddenly your best friend. You have to earn that trust by increasing your pet’s Loyalty. Pet Loyalty and your Creature Control skill are factors in determining how well your pet responds to your commands. To be a successful pet owner you must feed your pet and bandage it when it’s hurt. In this way your pet’s Loyalty increases, making it more willing to execute your commands.

Your pets may start off small, but raising this skill leads to bigger and better pets, and eventually even mounts, so though taming and training the perfect pet can be a time consuming process, it is well worth the time and effort.

This new game soon to be released is different than most MMORPG games on the web today.  Firstly, it’s a monthly subscription, a lot of people will say that it is nothing new here, however if you look at the growing number of MMORPG games that have moved on to a free play system, with perks for those who pay, it is quite a refreshing feeling.

Those games that base their mechanics around the free play system, only really taunt you in the end.  The bonuses offered to paid players is so significant, that a free player can not even hope to ascend beyond that of a ‘New Player’.

The Mortal Online Characters for this game are unlike most systems that I’ve ever seen in MMORPGs.  However, sometimes change for the sake of change, is a mistake.  Yes, anyone who’s played a game has at one point stated some kind of improvement to the game, or what they believe is an improvement.  But unfortunately, this game may take that initiative a little far.  They’ve bridged the gap between separate avatars, and the focused play style of a single avatar game, by introducing what they call the “Shared Soul”, which basically means that what you do on one character, will impact the other characters on your account.

You may learn a skill on one character, and use it on another from the sounds of it.  Though the “Shared Soul” system will not have an impact on your character customization capabilities it seems, as a variety of races and classes are available.
